Returning to Light: Convention-Defying Cinema from CU Film Studies

May 28th at 7 PM
Insideout Gallery in Traverse City

A handpicked program of exceptional short films will be presented by Traverse City native David Marek who is currently an Instructor and Graduate Student at the University of Colorado.  These films range from pure abstraction and ephemeral beauty, to the frighteningly dark recesses of disembodied nightmares.  There are films that explore new methods of storytelling and others with an urgency of story that one hopes will never end.  This will be followed by a brief presentation of David’s current feature film project, which will be partially shot in Traverse City and the Upper Peninsula.  This is a very rare opportunity to experience the living, beating heart of today’s avant-garde cinema and to meet the cast and crew of a truly “independent” film.
